Social media is an essential tool for communication and interaction in today’s digital age. It allows individuals to connect and share information in real-time, across different boundaries and time zones. Social media has also become a platform for businesses and organizations to engage with their customers, promote their products, and increase their brand awareness.

However, social media can also be a source of misinformation, disinformation, and propaganda, making it easier for people with malicious intent to spread lies and fake news. Therefore, it is vital to be able to recognize and counteract false information.

In this module you will learn more about how social media works, about forms of online violence, how to recognise and combat them, how to communicate sensitive issues and how to counter offensive comments and/or statements.

To be conscious that social media is a powerful communication tool that can benefit individuals and businesses, but it also presents challenges in terms of misinformation and fake news.
